Christian and Ashley Hickey in Soldiers of Light, a documentary about faith, family, and ministry on the front lines of Ukraine.
    • Christian Hickey has spent much of his life serving others.

A former U.S. Marine, Green Beret, police officer, and missionary, he has dedicated more than fifteen years to military service, law enforcement, leadership, and ministry. But when God called him to Ukraine, the mission before him would become unlike anything he had experienced before.

Together with his wife Ashley and their five children, Christian stepped into one of the world's most active conflict zones, trusting that obedience was worth the cost.

Their extraordinary journey is featured in the award-winning documentary film Soldiers of Light.

    • A Calling to the Front Lines - For many families, war zones are places to avoid.

For the Hickeys, Ukraine became a place of ministry.

Believing they were called to serve those affected by the conflict, Christian and Ashley chose to leave behind familiar surroundings and step into a region marked by uncertainty, danger, and tremendous need.

Their work combines practical support, spiritual care, leadership development, and Gospel outreach, helping individuals and communities navigate some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.

Through every challenge, their faith remains the foundation of their mission.

    • Faith, Family, and Sacrifice - Behind every mission is a family.

While Christian serves on the front lines, Ashley carries the responsibilities of raising five children, supporting ministry efforts, and helping their family remain grounded amid constant uncertainty.

Her story offers a powerful reminder that courage is not only found on battlefields. It is also found in everyday acts of faithfulness, perseverance, and trust.

Together, the Hickeys represent countless missionary and military families whose sacrifices often go unseen but whose impact reaches far beyond what most people ever witness.

  • An American Green Beret turned missionary follows a calling from God to the front lines of Ukraine, discovering a powerful story of faith, courage, and spiritual warfare.

Whether delivering aid, supporting local communities, encouraging soldiers, or sharing the hope of the Gospel, his mission extends far beyond physical needs.

But Soldiers of Light is not only Christian's story.

It is also the story of Ashley Hickey, a wife and mother of five young children who has embraced the challenges and sacrifices that come with following God's call into uncertain places.

Together, they demonstrate what it means to live out faith when comfort, security, and certainty are no longer guaranteed.
